In my earlier years, I tried my hand at sales and did tours of duty as a sales representative with four different companies. For those of you without direct experience, the sales representative gets about a year to produce then gets fired if the sales revenues do not justify continuation. I was terrible at sales and got fired all four times just about right at my first anniversary but all four times, about 30 days before my dismissal, my manager called me in for a chat and opened the conversation with the question, "Do you understand your role here with our organization?" We're just about at that 30 day probationary period leading to his first anniversary and I have an overwhelming desire to call Obama into my office now and ask him, "Do you understand your role here with our organization?" and when he responds with that glassy eyed deer in the headlights stare, I want to inform him, "You are the president, bimbo! You have the authority to initiate the 'creation of jobs'! You have the authority to respond to a crisis! You are under no compulsion to 'convene a summit' with demonstrated incompetent miscreants and ask them politely to do your job for you, if that's okay with them. YOU take the initiative. YOU ARE the initiative. That is your role here with our organization. Don't talk! Produce! Don't talk to me again until AFTER you produce, and if I have to initiate another conversation, that will be our last conversation. Now get out of my office and go produce." What do you think? Is it time to call Obama into our office for the "do you understand your role here with our organization" chat?
